Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
