Comedian and author David Walliams dropped by book publisher.

The author

Prolific young adult author and entertainer David Walliams has parted ways with his publisher HarperCollins UK, the company has said.

An official for the publisher stated: "Following a thorough review, and under the leadership of its new CEO, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing future works by David Walliams."

It has been reported that the move was taken subsequent to an investigation into claims about inappropriate behaviour directed at women.

The company has not elaborated on the reasons for its decision, noting: "We refrain from speaking about internal matters."

An Illustrious Literary Career

Walliams stands as a most prolific writers for young readers, boasting over more than 60 million copies globally in 55 languages.

His inaugural foray into kids' literature, *The Boy in the Dress*, was released through HarperCollins fifteen years ago.

A number of his works, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have also been adapted into TV movies.

He has published over four dozen titles in total, which features a Christmas book named *Santa & Son*, which was released through HarperCollins last autumn.

A Dual Career

His career breakthrough occurred on the TV sketch series *Little Britain* and has been honored with National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He received an OBE several years ago in recognition of his work for the charitable sector and arts community.

The publisher's decision comes after the appointment of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive last fall.
